Make your greatest ambition a polished–and published!–reality. Serious writers working in any genre and any form (memoirs, novels, blogs, article pitch letters, screenplays, poetry cycles) prepare work for professional submission. I open each class with a mini-lecture on an element of craft, working habits, the marketplace or a brief in-class writing exercise. In the private calls, we develop together a personalized curriculum for each client for the class, discussing recommended research/reading, intermediate goals for each class, and any other contacts or hand-out support I can offer the writer. The workshop is unusual in that it addresses all aspects of producing quality writing–both the challenges of craft and crafting a writer’s life–with rigor, pragmatism–and humor!
COURSE DESIGN: 8 (in-person in NYC) classes + (9th Class) Final Class Performance per session; ALSO 3 private consultations (pre-class, midterm and completion); Work is submitted every Sunday prior to each Tuesday’s class when it will be reviewed; everyone may submit every week; everyone must read and comment on all submitted work every week. The class is an intensive; do be prepared to make a significant time commitment (average of 2+ hours of reading/critiquing classmates’ work per week in addition to the hours you commit to your own writing sessions).

CREATIVITY/CAREER/LIFE COACHING
IDEASMYTH works with clients holistically to insure that their creativity/life/career goals are all advancing in alignment with their personal goals. Each month, clients can chose to use their time for a customized mix of coaching, editing and/or brainstorming–as best suits their needs and their schedule. IDEASMYTH clients consistently achieve substantial results, be it increased earning power, scoring a dream job, completion of a major project, founding a new business, and/or more personal time. This approach has been very effective for those finishing a book for agent submission or for those who need to meet a publisher’s deadline. IDEASMYTH works internationally in person, via internet video phone and by old-fashioned phone–and many of IDEASMYTH clients live abroad and/or out-of-state–i.e.: Paris, Moscow, Mexico City and Istanbul in addition to Detroit, Portland, Oregon, Malibu (CA), Washington (DC) and Charlottesville (VA). Whenever appropriate and possible, IDEASMYTH will make available to clients its extensive contacts of its database.
THE POWER SURGE: INTRODUCTION TO IDEASMYTH’S CREATIVITY COACHING:
Intitial two-hour consultation ($500). The client will fill out IDEASMYTH’s diagnostic questionnaire and learn how to rewrite a personal mission-oriented Owner’s Manual that they WANT to live into. Clients will leave from the first appt with a clear plan of action of what to do next to start realizing their endeavors and dreams. (Should the client choose to immediately enroll into a package program, these fees will either be discounted from the first month or comped as the two bonus hours that are included in a 3-month program–see BELOW.)
IDEASMYTH is always willing to CUSTOMIZE programs and BUNDLE various services to meet clients’ individual needs. Basic Rates: 5 hours/$1,000 or $200 per hour. Any number of hours under 4, cost $250 per hour.
Many of you have expressed interest recreating the accountability, camaraderie and significant results of my in-person coaching and writing workshops BUT with less commuting and expense, and now here’s the answer. This email- and telephone-based workshop will mentor and support you through a rigorous and pragmatic six-week program as you complete a fully viable book proposal and agent cover letter including (up to 75) sample chapter pages–at a significant discount from Ideasmyth’s private editing and coaching rates. Whenever appropriate, Victoria C. Rowan/Ideasmyth will make personal introductions on behalf of clients to literary agents.
COURSE DESIGN: Two private half-hour brainstorming sessions with each participating client prior to class beginning and class completing. Everyone submits their work every Sunday to a free class website. Victoria C. Rowan will submit notes back to every client prior to the Wednesday teleclass conference call when the next assignments will be discussed and any editing or other questions will be answered. To insure that every section of the proposal in class, everyone must submit their homework every week. Everyone must read *at least* their class buddy’s work every week, and it’s recommended to read others’ work with Victoria’s comments, but classmates are not required to upload comments on each others’ work. Everyone will be expected to connect once a week with their buddy btw the Wednesday conference call and Sunday submission time.

READINGS & EVENTS
For eleven years IDEASMYTH Creatrix-in-Chief Victoria C. Rowan curated a downtown reading series entitled, “Beyond Words: Stories on Stage,” which was recognized in 2003 by New York Press as the City’s “Best Live Reading and Performance Series.” Most recently, she served as the Artistic Programmer for the 92nd St. Y/Unterberg Poetry Center’s 2006-7 literature series featuring the world’s greatest living writers.
